By: W4FSU Regional Liaisons Five regions across Florida and Georgia make up the Women for FSU network. Catch up on their recent events, initiatives and other updates. Atlanta Region The Atlanta region kicked off the school year with a fun evening at our Seminole Sparkle Soiree. We had over 25 women in attendance who had the opportunity to network, snack and shop for some new “Seminole sparkle” to wear to their favorite Florida State events. Three different women-owned jewelry businesses provided custom-made jewelry and donated a portion of their sales to the Women’s Leadership Institute. Attendees voiced excitement for future events and have been providing feedback on what would be most impactful for them. We have several other events in the works. Everything from volunteering to nights out on the town, our members want to do it all! If you’re in the Atlanta area and are interested in attending, please reach out to Beth Vertino, Atlanta regional liaison, for details! Jacksonville Region It was a busy summer and fall for the Jacksonville region. In July, we enjoyed a happy hour at the Cummer Museum and an exhibition of French Impressionism. August was our well-attended “lunch and learn” about W4FSU at WJCT Studios, our local PBS affiliate, and we also had the opportunity to tour the studios. In September, we had a fun creative evening at Painting with a Twist. All the attendees enjoyed wine and snacks while painting a canvas of our beloved Renegade! October brought the CARE program to Deercreek Country Club, co-hosted by the Black Alumni Association and W4FSU. It was an engaging evening of success stories and heartfelt thanks to a program that provides opportunities for first-generation students to earn their degree at FSU. To stay up-to-date with the Jacksonville region and join us at future events, contact Lynn Bertram, Jacksonville regional liaison. South Florida Region We are so excited to be W4FSU’s most recent regional addition! In July, the South Florida region held its very first networking session in Ft. Lauderdale hosted by the Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship. We look forward to spreading our philanthropic efforts across South Florida as we share our unequivocal love for FSU! Are you living in South Florida? Make plans to join us and contact Saisha Delevoe, South Florida regional liaison, for more information or questions. Tallahassee Region The Tallahassee region hosted a July happy hour, bringing together over 50 women, many of whom had not previously been involved with W4FSU. The event was very successful and served as an opportunity to connect, meet W4FSU members and learn about membership. In October, W4FSU held a gathering at the women’s soccer match to cheer on the Seminoles and provide information about W4FSU to fans. We’re busy brainstorming ideas for future events. Reach out to Lisa Shelbe, Tallahassee regional liaison, for more information. Tampa Bay Region The Tampa Bay region had a very successful luncheon in August with keynote speaker Dr. Sally Karioth, a longtime faculty member of the FSU College of Nursing. Most of the attendees were her former students and enjoyed the time spent with her, as she always has such an inspirational message to share. With its success, we held a November luncheon at the Tampa Yacht Club with FSU Softball Coach Lonnie Alameda as the keynote speaker. Even though our events are coordinated by W4FSU, all members of the Seminole family are welcome!
